Taking the native desktop off the critical path was not giving up on it

It was a choice to prove the distro, shared platform, and official profiles first instead of making the original shell a release dependency.

This text is editorial. If this note differs from the current product state, Decisions, Roadmap, and canonical documentation are authoritative.

I really like the idea of Felunyx having its own desktop. That is exactly why I do not want it to be born in a rush just because the rest of the distro is waiting for it.

D-013 removed the native desktop from the critical path of the first release. KDE remains the first reference while the system base, installation, recovery, packages, and shared platform accumulate real evidence.

This also gives desktop research room to breathe. Instead of freezing the compositor, shell, and interfaces too early because “we need to ship,” there is room to test what makes sense and reject what does not.

When the native desktop reaches the right phase, I want it to be a consequence of an architecture we already understand — not the piece holding the entire distro hostage.
